Long Pose Life Drawing & Painting


Suited for students who have completed the Ways of Seeing Life Drawing I  and/or Life Drawing II courses or who have a good understanding of observational drawing or painting from the life model.

In the Life Drawing I & II courses we cover many approaches to drawing the model in the form of fixed exercises and poses that vary from a few minutes to an hour. Though useful for learning, it does not always allow for a completed picture to be created or for the challenges of extended observation.

By popular demand, from January 2016 I am offering an opportunity to draw or paint the model with extended long poses. After some warm up poses, long poses will usually last an hour to 2 hours. I will also be booking models for multi-day poses. i.e. The same pose with the same model over successive weeks to allow painters to complete a painting from extended observation. e.g. 2 x 2 hour poses.

There will be personal feedback from me as you work (to further assist your development at your own pace) with a group critique from time to time.

As always I will be booking a wide variety of professional experienced life models.

Booking
​You can book 10 weeks subject to availability. Any spare places will be offered to drop-in students week to week but these must be booked 24 hours or weekly in advance to secure places.

Facilities
  • Free tea and coffee facilities are available in the studio as well as the usual selection of biscuits and occasional cake!
  • Easels, boards and little tables are provided.
  • Drawing materials are available at a small extra cost.
  • Brush cleaning facilities are available, along with a few aprons.
  • Please bring your own paints and canvases though if you forget a canvas I can probably find one you can buy in an emergency!
