Life Drawing II Course - Drawing into Painting
Suited for students who have completed the Ways of Seeing Life Drawing I course or who have a good understanding of observational drawing from the life model.
An opportunity to explore more complex poses and concepts and develop observation and drawing skills further and take those skills into oil painting. These classes will have a faster pace and there will be a level of assumed knowledge when it comes to descriptive language, though of course questions are always welcome. There will be a degree of personal feedback and group critique. The schedule for the programme is as follows, but may be subject to alteration: Week 1 Personal aims & ethos of the course. Exploring line with pencil. Week 2 Exploring tone with charcoal. Week 3 Exploring shape with collage Week 4 Foreshortening challenges. Week 5 Brush strokes and flows in ink. Week 6 Limited palette oil sketching. Week 7 Optical mixing with pastels. Week 8 Oil painting from the life model with personalised feedback. Week 9 Oil painting from the life model with personalised feedback. Week 10 Oil painting from the life model with personalised feedback. Concepts covered: 30 Second Poses. Foreshortening. Reverse perspective. Body shapes. Anatomy. What to bring: A willingness to make mistakes and move out of your comfort zone. An openess to exploring different ways of seeing. Some confidence with materials. |
