Life Drawing I Course - "Ways of Seeing"
I offer a 10 week (3 hours per week) beginners and intermediary life drawing course called "Ways of Seeing" which runs on Tuesday mornings and some terms Tuesday/Monday evenings as well subject to demand. The half day and evening drawing classes are for all abilities. Many of my students are complete beginners.
I also run a tutor assited Life Drawing class which provides the opportunity for students and more experienced artists to study longer poses in the afternoon for painting and developing drawing skills. There's also an untutored life class on Tuesday afternoons with discounted rates for School Alumni. For those more life drawing students that wish to dip their toe into painting there is the Life Drawing II course on Tuesday evenings. This course covers more challenging life poses and acts as a bridge from drawing into oil painting. This is run by accomplished artist and teacher Katie Beth Hooper. About "Ways of Seeing" The 10 week course is called "Ways of Seeing" because one of the main aims of the course is to improve your observation and perception. Improving your drawing is a combination of improved "seeing" and improved drawing capability (specific skills). See full details of the programme below. If you are unsure whether the course is right for you, do please call me to discuss on 01306 877189 or 07768 862895. I work with a maximum of 6 students per class so that you get lots of individual attention. This does mean that places go quite quickly so please get in touch soon if you are interested in attending. |

Testimonials
"I highly recommend taking classes with Eric. His classes are really fantastic. I have learned so much from him and my drawing skills have improved dramatically. Eric is a most generous teacher and a talented artist, worth every penny.” Alison S. "Thank you for all your hard work that went into making such a good course." Jenny "Fantastic commitment to teaching you how to draw. I had no previous experience at the start." Gail P. "It's been a wonderful course Eric. I will definitely be back in the New Year. Thank you." Jacqueline I am about to start my second course with Eric. I really enjoyed the first one and learnt more in three months than i have previously. The small class size means he can spend good quality time with each student and he is incredibly knowledgeable and an excellent teacher. The general environment is fabulous, a lovely new studio and good selection of very different models to keep things challenging, all of whom were very professional. Really looking forward to the new term starting. Maribel "It was such an enriching experience to move from only knowing how to draw ‘stick people’. Eric’s classes are small and well-structured, so whatever your level, you get lots of personal attention from a talented and inspiring teacher, learning alongside others, in a relaxed and friendly setting." Carole "Ways of Seeing" Course Programme
The ability to observe well and to draw what you see and convey meaning to others underpins all creative and artistic disciplines. This course aims to help you to develop your observation and drawing skills through a series of practical demonstrations and hands-on tutor assisted art workshops. We will be working from the nude and clothed model. We will cover life drawing and portraiture, but also general observation of still life (objects). We will be mainly using pencil and/or charcoal on paper. You will learn various techniques and methods of solving the challenges of drawing from observation. This art course includes theory lectures and practical demonstrations. Whether you are new to drawing or a more experienced artist, my hope is that this course will expand your ability to see and translate what you see onto paper in your own way.
