Life in Colour II Acrylic Still Life Painting Course
This course builds on the Life in Colour course. This course is based on the premise that the students have a knowledge of the colour wheel and how it is used to mix colour. The colour wheel is referenced throughout the course, as it forms the basis of all colour mixing.
Over the ten weeks, you will be working with different colour palettes in acrylic paint in order to attain a deeper understanding of working with colour. You will explore both the cool and warm side of the colour wheel. As with Life in COlour I, there will be lots of stimulating still life set ups based on the different challenges of those ranges. Each week has a different theme, so as to increase your knowledge of colour mixing and colour relationships. For example, one week you might be working with complementary colours, another week triads or "coloured neutrals". The aim of the course is to further increase your knowledge of colour and its properties and to use to its best advantage in your own work. It is also to enhance your perception of colour. As with the Ways of Seeing Course, you need to be able to see what is in front of you in order to paint it accurately. Denise aims to help you to do just that. Denise is there to guide, inspire and help you build on your knowledge of this very exciting subject. Denise's course will improve your eyes ability to see and record the subtitles of colour, as well as to give tips to help you to give depth and life to your work. Learn how to paint lively shadows, reflective surfaces and to see how colours effect each other. Denise also covers some of the interesting facts about pigments and their history. By the end of the ten weeks you will have an increased understanding of colour mixing and should feel even more confident in your ability to mix clean colours and produce exciting paintings. Denise makes the experience of learning colour as fun as possible and to creates a good ambiance conducive to painting. The class is in a warm studio where the mood is informal and relaxed. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided, as well as materials, paper and paint. So all you need to bring is yourself, and apron, (or wear old clothes), and an enthusiasm to expand your knowledge. So if you enjoy a challenge and have an open mind to widen your colour perception, then this is the course for you! |
